This interview was informative and an enjoyable experience. Throughout this course, we learned about different wars and how the people who were a part of them were affected. I especially found the accounts of the soldiers interesting, as their reasons for joining revolutions or being on the side of the “aggressor” were differing. Some were a strong believer in the cause, while others were required to fight because it was their job. We learned in class that after coming back from war, many soldiers experienced shell-shock, or what we now call Post-Tramautic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Some struggled to come to terms with what they did in war, while others viewed their actions as justifiable and necessary. When it came time to chose a topic and person to interview, my first thought was my father who was also in the Army and took part in a war, like the soldiers we learned about in class. I wanted to learn more about him and his time in war, as well as hear how he justified his role in the Iraq War.
