The interview focuses on my grandfather’s memories of life during Franco’s dictatorship and on the family memory of the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period. Although he did not live the Civil War directly, he grew up in a Spain still marked by its effects. His testimony helps explain how fear, silence, education, religion, censorship, work and the Transition to democracy shaped everyday life during and after Francoism.
